A couple weeks ago we published on our blog about reaching the next level.
Here’s another example, one from Aacer Flooring, our Palo Duro Partner out of Peshtigo, Wis.
Aacer Flooring’s Heartland Collection represents more than the company’s newest prefinished solid flooring line. It’s the first product to come from achieving a much bigger, longer-term goal.
Last June, Aacer said that for several years it had wanted to bring its finishing process in-house. The company previously had worked with a third-party vendor for finishing the prefinished flooring it manufactured.
The move required adding to Aacer’s 300,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, where it kiln-dries its wood, mills and grades it.
“It was the right time for this expansion,” says Ray Webb, Aacer general manager. “Our owners recognize the value of investing in our future. Fortunately, we have the dedicated customers to support this type of capital investment.”
The expansion was finished by year end, trials started in January, and production hit full swing in February. The expansion increased Aacer’s manufacturing footprint to 315,000 square feet. Prefinished line leadership, notably 30-year finishing veteran, Mark Fisher, and a line crew were added to Aacer’s team.
The changes focus on a win-win for the company and its customers.
“All aspects of the finishing process are managed under our watch now,” Webb says. “This allows us to maximize quality control and to serve our customers as efficiently as possible.”
The Heartland Collection, the first product line to be fully produced in-house at Aacer, features ¾” thick solid flooring in 3 ¼” and 5” widths. It’s made from Northern hard maple, Northern red oak and hickory, with natural and stain finishes.
